What To Expect at Your Initial Physiotherapy Appointment

You will be greeted by one of our lovely staff members and asked to fill out some new patient paperwork. If you have a referral from your doctor or any imaging reports, this is the time to hand them over to be uploaded to your file.

Your physio will come to collect you from the waiting room and take you to one of our private treatment rooms. Here they will ask you some questions about your symptoms. Your physio may take notes throughout the discussion.

Next your physio will perform an objective assessment to determine if you have any movement or strength impairments and perform tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Finally, your physio will discuss the findings of your assessment, and together you will develop a treatment plan. This may involve manual therapy for symptom relief, exercise prescription, and education on how you can manage your symptoms. Don’t be surprised if there is some goal setting involved.

You will be given time to ask any questions that you might have. A follow-up appointment will be recommended to review how you have responded to treatment. The number of follow-up physiotherapy sessions required will depend on the nature of your symptoms, treatment plan, and goals.
